Coffee in bed at 7:30am.
I go to bed looking forward to Andrew bringing me that hot cup of coffee and turning on my bedside lamp the next morning. We sit and sip for a good fifteen minutes and discuss what’s on tap for the day, or random things like what our spirit animal is (me: cat; andrew: fox “or something fast”). Something about having my coffee while still under the covers really helps me ease into the day. It’s a good marriage enhancer too. You should try it (if you’re married).
Breakfast with Parker.
As soon as his diaper is changed in the morning, he ruuuuns down the hall yelling “meeehhuuuk” (milk). Once he has sippy cup in hand, he starts pointing to the pans hanging on the wall. “Eeeeeehhhhggggsss.” He is having a major scrambled egg moment right now. Me? I’m having a major avocado-toast-on-homemade-bread moment. He has sleepy face and eyes at breakfast, a little puffy with marks from the blanket he slept on. His hair is usually wild on one side. I’ll get another half cup of coffee, or “cocky?” as he says. We talk about our eggs and forks and how we slept. Then we go about our day.
“Morning is an important time of day, because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.” – Lemony Snicket, The Blank Book
