Dear Parker,

You turned 2 years old a few days ago, which officially makes you a toddler (insert me Mariah Carey here singing “Always Be My Baby”).  We had an airplane-themed party on Friday and it was a lot of fun.  There was even a paper plane contest!  You got some neat gifts and stayed up way past your bedtime.

It’s been a little while since I wrote a monthly update about you, so let’s see.

Things you love:  planes, trains, automobiles, boats, tractors, motorcycles, helicopters, firetrucks, lawn mowers, stickers, bracelets, cartoons, all animals.

Things you love to do:  watch cartoons (“mammals”), drink milk, play outside, jump on the trampoline, color and put stickers all over the page, pretend to cook, put salt on your food, give hugs and kisses, eat chips with dad, go on walks, play with the water hose, jump on your bed, ride in the car (we turned your seat around!), watch me make my smoothie every morning and help me drink it, shoot baskets, run around, dance, yell really loudly.

Things you like to eat:  milk, juice, ice water, chicken, green beans, strawberries, avocados, blueberries, black beans, steak, potatoes, noodles, sunflower & pumpkin seeds, cereal,  shredded carrots, cheese, pretzels, chex mix, yogurt, applesauce, grapes, frozen peas, hot dogs, chips & salsa, rice, and you still love those food pouches, which is fine by me.

Things you don’t really like:  staying in your stroller for a long time when we are out and about somewhere – if I take you out there is little to no chance you’ll get back in without throwing a giant tantrum; you’ve started to get fussy at bedtime and run all over the place to play with all your toys before I pick you up for bed; you don’t like Mayfield to sit on your lap, and you don’t like boiled eggs or celery.  Oh, and you really, really hate going to Hobby Lobby.

I think the biggest thing you are figuring out right now is how to talk, and it is AWESOME.  Your first sentence was, “Mama kicked it.”  You know a zillion words and you know almost all of your colors.  You’re so smart, sweet boy.  I think blue is your favorite color because whenever I tell you a story about a tractor and ask you what color it should be you always say “blue.”  My two favorite things you say are “I love you” (it is the absolute best) and “Parker mad,” which comes out as one word and sounds like “Parkermat.”  You tilt your head down whenever you say it and it is so hard not to laugh.

You always refer to yourself in the third person – “Parker mows,” “Parker’s cup,” “Parker shoot.”  I know we need to probably be correcting you (?) but right now it’s way too cute to change.

You are so very sweet and tenderhearted, always hugging your stuffed animals and trying to feed them from your sippy cup.  You give the best little kisses to just about anyone and anything.  I’m telling you, you’re the sweetest kid ever.

You’re just changing and growing so much everyday, and I feel so lucky that I get to watch it happen and be a part of the process.  I am blessed to be your mama, and I love you, I love you, I love you.  I can’t believe you’re two.

Love Always,
